About me
"Leveraging the knowledge created by giants, building platforms for
those who will step forward tomorrow"
My
motivation stems from a desire to inspire others to reach their full potential,
coupled with an innate drive to analyze complex societal problems and architect
their solutions. I am passionate about gaining deep knowledge of the
intersection between business and society, transforming both through the
strategic leverage of technology.
I am a Computer Science Engineer by training, a digital evangelist by passion and a consultant by nature. My work lives where business strategy meets technological execution.
Currently, I lead Enterprise and Data Architecture disciplines and on my free time I write about strategy, leadership and innovation. I use this space to share the experiences I've gathered along the way and my perspective on what comes next.
The Roots
I was raised near the mystical hills of Sintra, rooted in Catholic values and a belief that success is earned, not given. My path was shaped by a persistent dichotomy: attending private schools while facing the daily, grounded challenges of a Lisbon suburb.
This daily movement between two distinct realities forced me to mold myself, learning to adapt without seeming out of place in either world. Observing these two environments taught me early that "luck" is often just the result of relentless work and compromise. While completing my Master’s in Computer Science, I worked across the IT spectrum - from infrastructure and end-user support to optimizing complex algorithms for large organizations.
The Forge
My professional identity was forged through three distinct chapters:
- The Nimble Start: At CaveDigital, I spent 3.5 years bridging the gap between operational task optimization and executive decision-making. I balanced bespoke consultancy with the development of scalable software products, learning how to make complex "machines" work for the people who lead them - from small shop owners to government ministers.
- The Big 4: Nearly a decade at KPMG
and PwC marked my entry into a "different championship". I
was involved and led massive digital transformations, architected
"golden source" data programs for investment funds and financial
sector, and navigated the critical world of regulatory risk and reporting.
My focus was on leading teams (and clients) on platform designing, migration
and consolidation, as well as defining Data Governance, Data Quality and
Innovation frameworks on regulatory compliance and business change
scenarios.
- The Inside View: Transitioning to Crédito Agrícola during the COVID-19 lockdown marked my shift from external consultant to internal leader. Here, I became the end-consumer of the strategies I once built. It has allowed me to apply years of theory to the long-term evolution of a financial institution. This is where Strategic Vision meets the reality of the trenches - where Frameworks, Reference Architectures and Operating Models are truly put to the test.
The Philosophy
I believe we are defined by the consequences of our choices on the "whole". I am an analytical perfectionist - I like to build with my hands, schematize complex problems and find beauty in the implementation of near-perfect solutions that sit in the Goldilocks Zone between theory and reality.
- Joys of Life & Sustainability: I am as connected to clean
energy and sustainability as I am to the thrill of a rumbling engine on a high
revving internal combustion car or bike. While I appreciate perfectly
cooked beef or fish, I opt for a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet whenever
possible.
- Continuous Improvement: I do not strive to be right
all the time just for the sake of it. I embrace failure as a vital data
point on the learning path. My goal is to be able to trace root causes,
build wisdom from every challenge and create a better place for those who
will come tomorrow.
- Principles-based Ethical Ambition: I aim high, but not at all costs. My upbringing in catholic principles and professional experiences in audit firms and regulated sectors created in me a foundation of "doing the right thing". I do not always say what others want to hear - I say what must be known. Those who know me expect a sincere, honest opinion. If you seek constant praise for every action, there are chatbots built with people-pleasing algorithms to boost your ego - I do not aspire to replace them.
Why you should trust me?
Well...you shouldn't. That is the point of these articles. My goal is to foster critical thinking and feed curious minds, not to provide absolute truths.(The insights and opinions shared on this platform are entirely my own. They do not represent the official positions, strategies or views of any institution I am currently affiliated with, nor any organization I have served in the past)
